How to use Mycelium as a culture for grain spawn?
Prepare grains (e.g., rye, wheat) by soaking them for 12-24 hours, then boiling for 10-15 minutes. Drain and rinse the grains, then spread them out on a clean surface to dry for a few hours. Sterilise the grains in jars or bags using a pressure cooker at 15 PSI for 60-90 minutes. Allow the sterilised grains to cool to room temperature in a sterile environment. Inoculate the cooled grains with mycelium culture using a sterile tool, ensuring even distribution. Seal the jars or bags and shake gently to mix. Incubate at 20-24°C in a dark, clean area for 1-3 weeks until fully colonised. Once colonised, the grain spawn can be used to inoculate bulk substrates for mushroom cultivation.
